Barge recently pulled for painting - coating interior, and insulation of new spud pulling systems.

It is a Spud Barge that has been refurbished inside and out, the renovations were completed in Dec. 2019. New power pack and winches for self-elevating spuds. Replaced a significant amount of steel and closed a keyway that was 80x10 with all new steel and internal structure. She has a deck load rating at 3800 psf.



Renovation work will complete

a) The internals were inspected by a surveyor. All angles and frames needing replacement where cropped and renewed. "Easy Kote", internal void coating has been applied to the floor and 6' up the walls.

b) The 80' x 10' x 12' keyway has been enclosed, using 3/8 plate

c) Doubler plates were removed from the deck, and steel replaced where needed.

d) The barge has been dry docked, inspected and all necessary repairs have been completed.

e) Manway hatches were replaced as needed. New manways with hatches were added to the new compartments created from closing in the key way.

f) Barge was sand blasted and painted; first coat was Carboline 890 (Buff color), second coat was Carboline 890 (Black color sides and bottom), and main deck Carboline 890 (Gray color) . Third coat "Anti-foulant" (Red Color.)

g) A all New Spud package includes the installation of spud-wells and spuds (24" x 50'), hydraulic pulling unit, engine, winches, and hydraulic system.

Internal side angles are 5" x 3" x 5/16" angle iron

Keyway closing 6" x 6" x 3/8" (if you are going to open the keyway back up, try to do it from the bow, at least you get to keep all the brand new steel and support angles (80x10x12) intact and take out the older steel.

Deck plate sheet 10' x 40' x 3/8" deck and bottom (deck rated at 3800 PSF)

Transverse Bulkhead Plate 10' x 12' x 3/8"

Longitudinal Bottom and Plate 6" x 4" x 3/8" 40' long sections

Bulkhead Plates 3" x 4" x 5/16" 40' long sections



Bottom repairs where needed/small patches 3/8" plate

Spud Wells/Spuds ½" this pipe, welded 8" x 8" x ½" 90 degree angle to square off and make square spuds

Bottom of spuds is combed shape to get better penetration into the ground

Pulling Unit is DP 45 winched, Line pull rated at 45,000 lbs, cable is 1" wire rope.
